TypeAgencyDate Range1898-1908DescriptionThe Khandallah Domain Board was established by an Order in Council under 'The Public Domains Act 1881', on 8 August 1898. At the same time the Khandallah Recreation-ground was brought under its control. The Board had 11 members including the Mayor of Onslow ex officio and S C G Vickers who was the Onslow Town Clerk at the time. The Gazette notice pasted in the front of the minute book ordered monthly meetings and an annual meeting in January to elect a chairman. At the first meeting on 15 August at the Khandallah Schoolhouse A O O'Donahoo was elected chair. The Board had no funds and apart from a fund raising event, and selling metal and dead wood for firewood, they could not for many years act on proposals to acquire more bush or fence off the Domain from neighbouring properties. Many times monthly meetings were not held for the lack of a quorum. In 1903 they instituted by-laws protecting the fauna and flora of the Domain, including excluding dogs, and discussed a picnic ground and creating tracks. The fact that there are no minutes recorded between Nov 1903 and August 1906, nor again until 14 March 1908 indicates that there was little action over this period. The cash accounts (at the back of the Minute Book) show that some work did continue between 1904 and 1907 clearing pathways, fencing and making new paths. They received donations from the Onslow Council and individuals, and funds from selling firewood. On 14 March 1908 the Board discussed handing over the Domain to the Onslow Borough Council and this was done at a final meeting on 16 March 1908. The last expenditure accounts were dated 17 Nov 1908 and there is sign off by H A L(?) dated 30 August 1909.
