Date Range1995-2023DescriptionThe role of the Centre was to be "the Council's shop window." It was the first stop for Council customers who had any business with the Council; whether paying rates, enquiring about street signs, or asking for information about Council facilities.
The public customer services function/team had sat in the Corporate Services Department, but on 1 April 1993 was transferred to the newly created City Service Centre.
In 1995 was part of the Environmental Control Business Unit (ECBU). From 2003 ECBU became Building Compliance and Consents.
Within the Service Centre was a BCC One Stop Shop. They did the consenting bit, indended to be a triage / first point of contact for customers requring building consenst. They also provided access to private drainage information, and had a lot of historic plans and reference information collected from teams across Council.
The Service Centre was located in the Ground Floor of the Civic Administration Building (CAB). In 2019 it relocated to Arapaki Manners Library and Service Centre.
