Archives Identifier00094Date Range1916-1921DescriptionThis series contains the last five rate books for the Miramar Borough, before its amalgamation with Wellington City in 1921. No earlier books have been located.

The books are printed with standard columns and headings and contain the following information: number on roll; full names of occupier and owner; description and situation of property; rateable value; total rate; water rate; amount paid; by whom paid; date of payment; and remarks, which may contain notes on changes of owner/occupier, arrears, etc.

At the end there are additions of special rates, a summary and signatures of two Council members. Volumes for 1916/17 to 1918/19 have lists of Outstanding rates pasted inside the back cover. There are also loose papers inserted into several volumes: voting papers for Miramar Borough and the Wellington Harbour Board, and miscellaneous copies of printed electoral lists.
