The photographs were taken by the same unknown photographer over a five-year period around Wellington. The majority are scenes of Karori, Wellington's south coast and Roaring Bay, with one of Wilton's Bush. Each glass plate negative was originally in an envelope with hand-written information about location, the year, the season and in some cases the aperture setting and shutter speed.
