Archives Identifier00324Date Range1943-1947DescriptionThis volume contains newspaper clippings relating to the public milk supply, from a wide range of regional and local New Zealand newspapers. Many clippings have only the newspaper name, day and month but no year and some have no references. War time paper shortages may acount for the numbers of clippings crowded on to each page. They cover many controversial issues such as milk purity and standards, pasteurisation and other milk treatment processes, rationing during war time, private versus government and local authority control of supply and distribution, and tuberculosis and herd testing. They reflect public opinions through letters to the Editor and local government views through reports from city and county councils. Different viewpoints are represented through clippings from newspapers promoted by all sides of the political spectrum.Quantity (Linear Metres)1MediumBound VolumeSystem of ArrangementApproximately chronological in two sequences, one throughout on the right hand page, then volume turned upside and the back of the same page used, again on right side,Collection TypeWellington City Council
