Archives Identifier00326Date Range1902-1919DescriptionIt is not known if there is a previous volume of this series, as Onslow began as a Borough in 1890. The current holdings begin in 1902, a double page accounts book, 'Cash ' from rates and other receipts on one page and 'Contra' payments on the opposing page. The pre-printed column headings are only used for date and name. Others have new headings - Cash has Ward names, General and Special; Contra page has Ward names, General, Special and Hutt Rd. Lighting and Water columns being January 1904. This part of the book stops on 30 April 1904 (p. 25) On page 29, 12-18 July 1904, it changes to be a rates cash book with the pre-printed headings crossed out or changed to 'Rate [or] Rates Cash Book' and columns headed: Date, Folio [used for receipt number], Name, General rates, Charitable Aid Rates, Loan, Lighting, 10%, Total, Bank. Later other headings are added: Works, Hutt Rd Loan, Kaiwarra [Kaiwharawhara] Drainage. Within each headed section, columns are subdivded by year (in reverse order) over four years at one time: 1905-06, 1904-05, 1903-04, 1902-03, and then altering so that years up to 1909-10 are added. The second and third volumes have similar headings: General, Hospital and Charitable Aid, Lighting, Works Loan , Hutt Road Loan , Kaiwarra [Kaiwharawhara] Drainage Loan, Catchment Area Loan, and from April 1912, Khandallah Hall Loan. For volume 2 the headings are pre-printed. The columns are subdivided by years, from 1908/09 up to 1918/19. Volume three has an additional column for cross references to CB (Cash book) pages.
