There are also ledger entries for sources of income for such works, such as the sale of debentures, landowners subsidies, district funds and loans, etc. Obviously the Street Improvements Loan of £23,000 was signficant as it appears on an extra paper spine label on v. 2 . The ledgers relate to the Cash books [Roads and works] Series 00359, and not to the general Cash book Series 00358. One column refers to the relevant Cash book page numbers. They overlap in date for first months with each other (as do the related Cash books), but not in content.
