Archives Identifier00459Date Range1911-1932DescriptionThese wages registers record the payment for permanent and casual workers at the Drainage Pumping Station and the Refuse Destructor. There were almost certainly other volumes created but not surviving. The first volume uses one page per week; later volumes use a double page spread for each week - Drainage and Destructor workers in separate listings on facing pages. From 1926/27 onwards many entries are also found on the general staff cards, series 00374, but the cards do not always give the job description details as in the registers. The entries record name and intitals, position or work function 1st Engineer, Leading fireman, fitter, turner, labourer, handman, furnace repairer, blacksmith, etc), the daily hours, the rate of pay and the total amount paid. The entry record also additional payments , such as for welding, 'dirty money' or dirt pay, and leave (annual , sick or if as the result of an accident).
