The debenture registers overlap in dates and some of their contents do also. It appears from references to and page numbering (and renumbering) that two of the volumes are a set, but not all pages are strictly in sequence. The first volume has the spine title: 'Register of sundry loans repaid or converted to Conversion Loan No. 1 1934.' Each volume has at the front a list of contents re the loans and an index to debenture holders personal or corporate names.

A reference in the Town Clerk's general file (60/193 Pt 3, 11 May 1942) re debentures indicated that there were further registers in this series, created by the City Treasurer when debentures were issued. However it also indicates that the registers were not necessarily accurate as 'all debentures are transferable to bearer', it was up to the holders to inform the Treasurer re transfers, changes of address, etc.

The preprinted sheets record information about the loan at the top and then list the debenture holders' names, addresses and details about the debentures - numbers of debentures and their number, value, amount invested, interest, etc. At the back of the second volume, there is a section setting out dates (up to 1965) when the interest was repayable on the loans. For one other volume, with slightly later dates - 1930s, the information is spread out over a double page for each loan, with additional information columns, such as date received, receipt number, change of ownership or address, date altered coupons returned, and other remarks about repayments, etc. It also has a name index at the front. The fourth volume has a title engraved on the cover: 'Register of debentures received for conversion loans No.1 to 5. 1934' However it contains information about Conversion Loan No. 1 only. It also has a name index at the front.
