The contracts relate to work such as construction of the tramways power station, construction of tram cars, specifications for uniforms and delivery of materials for maintenance of the Tramways and Electric Lighting system. The volumes relate to tramways systems established and run by the Wellington City Council, Miramar Borough Council and Karori Borough Council tramways system. There is some duplication of the contracts in this series and Series 00205, but these volumes hold all the early contracts for these departments in one place. For some contracts, related correspondence has also been pasted into the volumes. Each bound volume contains multiple contracts.
