They were received by Wellington City Archives in two boxes without any supporting indexes or contextual information. The subjects of the photographs encompass the range of the MED's business activities including: line installation, underground cabling, Evans Bay and Jervois Quay power stations, other electricity department facilities, equipment, vehicles, electrical infrastructure such as substations, power lines and pylons, photographs of the MED appliance showroom and photographs of displays at various electricity-related expos. The photographs have been listed in the order they were originally arranged in the boxes they were transferred in.
