Archives Identifier00637Date Range1950s-1980DescriptionThis series consists of a collection of photographic transparencies mounted on 35mm slide mounts from the Municipal Electricity Department. They were received by Wellington City Archives without any supporting indexes or contextual information. The slides cover a variety of subjects, such as substations, street lighting of Wellington at night, Trade Fairs and other events that the MED were involved in, MED staff at work. The slides were originally in two sequences, one labelled C and the other D, exactly what this represented is unknown and there is no apparent connection between the slides in each sequence. The original C and D numbering has been recorded in the Other ID field on the Archives database, and the slides have been top numbered for ease of access. The final 20 slides in this series were not part of either the C or D numbering sequences, but were loose in the box with them, so have been retained as part of this series. There are 216 photographic colour transparencies mounted on 35mm slide mounts, with a further six that are black and white.
