The register is in date order, and records the date the person applied, their name, remarks on their suitability, and, if they ended up joining the service, the date they did so. The remarks and joined service dates are not consistently filled out.
There is a running number sequence through the register, which may relate to individual files for each applicant. Some pages are overwritten in large blue writing "Files held in Inspectors Office".
