Descriptive Data
Archives Identifier00746Date Range1970s-2000DescriptionKnown as "Aussies Drawers", appears to be a sequence of plans and correspondence relating to subdivision and earthworks carried out in Wellington. Ron (Aussie) Small was employed by the City Engineers Department and retired mid 1990s, his primary role involved inspection of new roading works; while also performing a secondary audit role on major earthworks projects. Due to department reorganisation and his retirement, this secondary role was not continued following his retirement.
Originally held in the Drainage area and used as a reference source when investigating drainage issues or work. Each numbered bundle refers to the "Earthworks Database" - this has not been followed up to find out what this was. John Boot was involved with the use of this sequence, so may know. Material appears to relate to City Engineers file 6/347 - Compaction of Soil on Filled Sections. Material is a combination of original correspondence, photocopies, and notes. It is not known whether this duplicates information on City Engineers files, or whether the material has been taken off files to create the sequence, or never made it to the file and was always held and used like this. Note where the sequence range is listed, there are some gaps; particularly after around 80, there are very few of the total listed present Box 1-5 Earthworks Database references 3-285 Box 5-6: Bundles of material labelled "old plans not yet indexed", and contents of ringbinder labelled F-Q CC's, which appears to be correspondence connected to building consents relating to Vehicle Access amongst others.
