Wellington Harbour Board Aerial photographs of Seaview and Gracefield
Descriptive Data
Archives IdentifierAC111Date Range1930s-1940DescriptionThis series comprises a small group of aerial photographs of the Seaview and Gracefield area, produced around the 1930s to 1940s. All of the photographs in this series were purchased from NZ Aerial Mapping. No correspondence has been found to confirm when or why the Wellington Harbour Board purchased them, but it is assumed they were obtained to help record development taking place in the area and to help with future planning. Reclamation work was carried out in the area by the Harbour Board in the 1930s and these photos provide a valuable record of the area before, during and after the work. The exact dates of the photographs are unknown so approximate ones are given based on the age of structures visible in each photograph. Areas (such as suburbs) and harbour facilities (such as wharves) shown on each print have been noted to help with research. An approximate metric scale has also been recorded. New Zealand Aerial Mapping retained copyright for these images, so if a customer wishes to reproduce these images they will need permission from them.Quantity (Linear Metres)0.11MediumPhotographSystem of ArrangementChronologicalCollection TypeWellington Museums Trust
