Union Steam Ship Cadets personal files and debentures
Descriptive Data
Archives IdentifierAF016Date Range1911-1919DescriptionThese are personal files for those cadets that were indentured at one time on the training ship, Aparima. This ship was commandeered during the war as a troopship and was torpedoed in November 1917. It sank with the loss of most crew including about seven cadets. Not all the files relate to those on board the SS Aparima at the time of its sinking. The files are numbered and were possibly part of a larger set of files relating to cadets on all ships. The files contain application forms, testimonials and medical examination reports, letters to and from parents or guardians about appointment, dates of arrival in New Zealand and about the loss or not of the cadet on board.Quantity (Linear Metres)0.25MediumFileSystem of ArrangementAlphabetical by last nameCollection TypeWellington Museums Trust
