They all have the following characteristics: they are known or assumed to have been been donated to the Council, or their origin is unknown or can no longer be established. Some of the latter, for instance, may originally have come as part of The Early Settlers' and Historical Association of Wellington donations but insufficient documentation at the time means this can no longer be established. The other defining characteristic is that they were all just one or two isolated items forming no series on their own.
