In 2010 the association changed their name to Federation of Wellington Progressive and Residents Associations Incorporated. The Federation dissolved in 2016.
The Federation's overarching principles and objectives were to
- co-ordinate the activities of all City and Suburban Associations in matters which affect the whole city and for presentation of such to the City Council or other local bodies. Like transport, traffic, district plans etc.
- Further the proposals of any Association on which it was unable to obtain finality from any local body.
- To foster a community spirit through services and co-operation in the achievements of the objects of the Federation, to assist affiliated associations and encourage public interest in the Federation, its affiliated associations and foster the formation of local associations in areas where they do not exist.
The Federation was to be entirely non-party political and take no part in the promotion or selection of any candidate for election to any local body. It was thought that the Federation, if it represented a substantial number of city and suburban associations, would be in a position to bring effective influence to bear on and city council or local body regardless of that body's political affiliations.Internal StructuresCommittee structure with President, Vice President, Executives and a Secretary/Treasurer namely elected at the annual general meeting.
