A provisional Board of Directors was appointed, with the Mayor, T C A Hislop as Chairman. At the first meeting of the provisional directors on September 25, 1936 The Town Clerk, E P Norman, was appointed interim secretary and the City Treasurer, B O Peterson, was appointed treasurer.
On January 25, 1937 an initial allotment of 75,090 one pound shares in the capital of the company was made. The statutory meeting was held on March 8, 1937 in the Town Hall and the following were elected as directors: W Appleton, F Campbell, C W Earle, J T Martin, W McLay, R H Nimmo, C J B Norwood, Sir Alexander Robers, C Todd and C M Turrell. T C A Hislop was elected Chairman of Directors and C Todd, Deputy Chairman. C P Hainsworth was appointed General Manager. On 5 April, 1937 K E Luke, City Engineer, and M Cable, Manager of the Tramway and Electricity Department of WCC were appointed Engineers to the Company.
The company was wound up in 1941 and assets and liabilities transferred to the New Zealand government.
