TypeAgencyDate Range1995-1997DescriptionIn 1995 the events planning and commissioning function of the Capital Development Agency (CDA) was taken over by a new section in Council, the Events Unit, Economic Commissioning. The function of the Events Unit was the administration of the application, approval and evaluation processes for events receiving Council sponsorship. These processes included responding to enquiries, sending out application forms, processing the completed forms into the Events Assessment and Support System (EAASY) database, sending applications on to the Economic Development and Promotions Committee for approval, liaison with the sponsorship applicants, and receiving post-event evaluation forms and economic impact reports. Council officers in this unit were designated Events Advisors. These included (dates are approximate) Karen Mullaly (1995-1997), Sarah Herrick (up to April 1997) and Mike Suggate (April 1997-1998). The files created by the unit follow on from the Capital Development Agency events files, but have no Council records management classification. Although the unit was disestablished in Nov 1997 and the Partnership Trust was established to deal with Council sponsorships, a few of the records received are dated 1999.
