TypeAgencyDate Range1809-1886DescriptionAlfred de Bathe Brandon Brandon arrived on the ship, London, in 1840 and started practice as a lawyer at what became known as 'Brandon's Corner' opposite the Government buildings. He was later a partner in the legal firm of Brandon, Hislop and Johnston and his name lives on in a Wellington legal firm. He was a Wellington city councillor from 1886-91 and Mayor in 1894. From 1853 to 1876 Brandon was a member of the Wellington Provincial Council and became Provincial Solicitor. He took a keen interest in education and was the first Chairman of the Wellington College Board of Governors.
