He worked in Auckland but ultimately settled in Wellington, with a studio in Willis Street. He demonstrated that portraiture could be made to reflect a lot of the sitter's personality. WW1 nominal rolls give the following - ANDREW, Stanley Polkinghorne, Second Reserves, Last NZ Address - Main Rd Khandallah, occupation - Portrait Photographer, Classification E (married, 3 children). Andrew probably pulled out of Auckland about 1934. His known years of operation as a photographerin New Zealand span 1925 to 1952.
