This is one of the many street names primarily found in Vogeltown that are connected to the Wright family, who owned much of the land in the area in the latter part of the 1800’s. John Fortescue Evelyn Wright (1827 – 1891) acquired large land interests in the south-west of the city and in 1878 he laid off a portion of his land as Vogeltown.
Liardet Street was named for a relative Captain Francis Liardet. John's mother Louisa Marie Félicité, nee Liardet was the sister of Captain Liardet.
