St. Hill Street connects Bond Street and Manners Street for pedestrians and is a service lane for 14-20 Bond Street, 98-110 Victoria Street and 19-27 Manners Street.
St. Hill street was likely named after politician, magistrate, and architect, Mr Henry St Hill. Mr St Hill arrived in Aotearoa New Zealand with his wife by the “Adelaide” on 7th March 1840. He was Resident Magistrate for 20 years. He died in London in 1866 after returning due to illness. He is commemorated by a brass tablet in St. Paul’s cathedral.
