Archives Identifier00770Date Range1980s-2010sDescriptionThis series consists of a collection of ephemera relating to Venues Wellington venues, especially posters advertising shows held in those venues and others, including, but not limited to: St James Theatre, The Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington Town Hall, The Opera House, VUW Memorial Theatre, Crossways, Circa Theatre, various religious halls, Downstage Theatre, BATS, Paramount Theatre and Depot Theatre.

The poster component represents a wide cross-section of event advertising in Wellington for the time period specified, from locally produced theatre to international tours from musical groups. The posters also vary in size and design complexity.

It should be noted that not all the of the venues listed on the posters were or are managed by Venues Wellington Ltd. How these posters came to be in this collection is unknown at this point. It is possible that the series includes any posters that used Venues Wellingtons Ltd advertising space or venues as a booking office. For instance, there are many examples of posters listing the State Opera House as the location to book and purchase tickets to events that were to be held elsewhere in smaller venues scattered around Wellington.
