He was a historian and played a key role in the formation of a local history society. He was elected as the first president in 1968 and remained in that role from 1968-1975.
This collection consists of his research notes, ephemera, report, and newspaper clippings. His research notes on different subjects especially on early settlers in Johnsonville cover a date range from 1839s - 1980s. These records were compiled and curated by R J Meyer and subsequently by Onslow Historical Society archivist in individual folders and assigned appropriate title on various subjects:
