Archives IdentifierOS039Date Range1966-1996DescriptionThe Newlands Paparangi Arts and Crafts Society was founded in 1966 and operated for 30 years in the Newlands and Paparangi area. The idea of the society originated from craft classes run by Newlands College. Most of these classes were held at night but some, such as pottery were held during the day. The society was dissolved when the motion was passed unanimously in the final meeting held on 28th March 1976. It organised various programmes including school holiday classes, introductory craft sessions, and Annual Craft Markets, which became a key feature of its work, providing local people with outlets for their crafts.
