The independent trust operating Capital Discovery Place decided to wind up in 1994, vesting it's assets to Council.
Wellington City Council provided funding to keep the Capital Discovery Place facility open to the public in a 'holding' mode until 1995.
A deed was completed by the Capital Discovery Place - Te Aho-A-Maui Trust Board and the Wellington City Council in September 1995 in which the remaining assets of that organisation were transferred to the Council as full settlement for the outstanding Council loan with the Trust. The Capital Discovery Place - Te Aho-A-Maui Trust was subsequently dissolved.
