TSS Maori II 1907-1946

The TSS Maori II was one of three ships of this name. This ship was designed and built for the Union Steam Ship Company (USSCo) in 1907, specifically due to the growing passenger traffic, and continued in their passenger service, going between Wellington and Lyttelton for 37 years, until 1946. It could carry about 600 passengers. It was a Triple Screw Steam Turbine and had a speed of 19 knots.

In 1946 it was sold to the United Corporation of China and renamed Hwa Lien. It was converted to a floating crane barge in 1951 in Taiwan but was broken up later that year.
