The MV Union Aotearoa was a motor vessel built in 1973 and owned by the Gannel Shipping Ltd. Chartered in 1973 by the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand (USSCo.), it was then renamed Union Aotearoa and traded in conjunction with the Dutch Royal Interocean Lines to southeast Asia. It was later used in trans-Tasman trade.
It was purchased by Union Steam Ship Company in 1977 but sold to the China Ocean Shipping in 1978 and renamed Xing Cheng. It had various owners, including China Ocean Shipping and several name changes between 1978 and 1999 - Golden Harvest, Ada and Golden Arrow 2. It was then sold to Shipbrokers in Alang, Gujarat, Indian in 1997.
