Propulsion: Motor Vessel
Built in 1976 at Dunkerque, France by Chantiers de France. Union Rotoma had a 20 plus year career and multiple names before being purchased by USSCo in 1991. Union Rotoma expanded the USSCo capability by adding a roro (roll on/roll off) vessel to compliment the lift on/lift off Union Endeavour already in service. Union Rotoma had a crew of only 19.
It had a tern quarter ramp and a TEU capacity of 1467. It also had a 40-ton crane.
It was sold by USSCo in 1999 to ANZDL and continued in trans-Tasman trade for a time.
In 2003 it was sold to Indian shipbreakers Alang to be broken up.
We have sets of images for MV Union Rotoma in our holdings.
