Archives Identifier00098Date Range1883-1890DescriptionThis series contains the rating information for the Kaiwarra (also named Kai Warra Warra) Town Board district, which operated from 1882 to 1890 after which it amalgamated with other areas to form Onslow Borough.
The volume is used only up to page 16 [for entries on later pages, see Series 328:0:1). The form pages are all headed with the standard statements about the rate in the pound, the Rating Act 1882, date of striking the rate, the period covered, and the payment of instalments. The opening rate was one half penny, struck on 28th January 1884 for the year 10th December 1883 to 10th December 1884, payable in one instalment on 4th February 1884. The last was for the year 1st July 1889 to 30th June 1890.
The descriptive elements of the entries include: Number on Roll (not always filled in), Occupier name, Owner name, Description and situation of property [Allotment, Section, Block details, Rateable value, Rate [total], By whom rate paid, and Date of payment.
Printed at the bottom of each page was a dated declaration, with the signatures by two members of the Board, but this mostly illegible due to water damage.
