Archives Identifier00104Date Range1914-1928DescriptionAs a public figure the Mayor of Wellington was often asked to head various charitable funds to which the public made contribution. This series covers four such funds: the WWI Imperial Patriotic Fund, the Upper Hutt Disaster fund for dependents of those lost in a disaster in 1914, an Unemployment Relief fund at the start of the Depression and the Moncrieff Hood fund for the dependents of two airmen lost in a crash in 1928. Minutes are evidence of how contributions were used, the part played by prominent Wellingtonians nominated to the committees and also provide valuable social history of the period. Notes: See 00164 for Elingamite Disaster; 00184 for various wartime and Depression era relief funds.Quantity (Linear Metres)0.22MediumBound VolumeSystem of ArrangementMinutes are arranged in meeting date order.
