Archives Identifier00220Date Range1892-1987DescriptionThere appear to have been two sets of burial registers for Karori Cemetery - one held at the Cemetery and the other at the Town Hall for reference. This is the Town Hall set. The registers cover the period 1892-1942 and 1964-1987, with a gap of 22 years. (The Karori Cemetery set is continuous.) The information they contain is in alphabetical order by first letter of surname, then by date of burial. It includes burial warrant number, date buried, name, age, last residence, rank or occupation, minister officiating and comments. Some entries include notes relating to burial fees and purchase of burial plots in burial number and date order up until 1902. From 1903 onwards registers are arranged in alphabetical order of first letter of surname and then in date order. This set appears partly to have attempted a kind of indexing as entries are not in strict register order, whereas the set of registers held at the Karori Cemetery are.Quantity (Linear Metres)2MediumVolumeCollection TypeWellington City Council
