They were collated from those found on department files and other sources (pre-1963 issues not located). The annual reports include the Abstract statement of income and expenditure and balance sheet for the year ended 31st March. The reports are a yearly review of the overall performance of the departments. They include summaries and commentary on the departments' financial performance and of significant projects undertaken during the year, as well as abstract statements of revenue and expenditure and balance sheets. From 1972 the Department was controlled by a Council Trading Committee and used the title:,Wellington City Transport.
