Archives Identifier00504Date Range1918-1989DescriptionThe cards in this series were created to act as an index by street name to subdivision files created within both Town Clerk's and City Engineer's Departments. They became obsolete for current records purposes about 1990 with the introduction of computer databases. Though in part their function has been taken over by electronic databases, the cards are particularly useful for their references to the early correspondence files (Series 00233), for the years 1918-1926; they provide an easy access point to files in this series.

The references continue after 1926 and refer to 36/- files (Town Clerks Deparment - Series 00001, City Engineers Department - Series 00009), and 16/- files (Town Planning Department - Series 00277). All three Council Departments were involved in the approval of subdivision applications.
