The majority of the series consists of files on individual subdivisions but there are also index cards listing details of subdivision applications made to Hutt County Council between 1962 and 1973. These cover Makara, Churton and Newlands. Some are related to the subdivision files held; for others there is no file and some appear to be incomplete - perhaps relating to subdivisions that never went ahead.

The files were transferred to Wellington City Council following the amalgamation of part of Hutt County Council with Wellington City in 1973. Some files were current at the time of transfer, and it appears that certain current papers from these files were relocated onto Town Planning 16/- files at that time. Miscellaneous index lists, correspondence and maps and plans were also transferred in December1973. When possible, the correspondence has been added to related files.
