Archives Identifier00570Date Range2003-DescriptionThis series consists of the Wellington City Council Annual Plans and Long Term Council Community Plans (LTCCPs) published under the Local Government Act 2002. Under the Local Government Act 2002 local authorities are required to produce Annual Plans and LTCCPs. The purpose of these plans is to describe council activities and community outcomes; to provide for integrated decision-making and co-ordinated use of resources; to provide a long-term focus for council decisions; to provide a basis for council accountability; and to provide an opportunity for public involvement in council decision-making. Part of the process of preparing the Annual Plan and the LTCCP requires that public consultation be carried out. First a draft Plan is issued and public submissions called for. Once decisions are made by Council on the submissions, the Plan is then published in its final form. The LTCCPs contain information about the following decade, including budgets, performance measures and reasons for providing each service. It also contains the policies that will guide management of the city’s finances: how activities are funded and what borrowing levels are maintained. LTCCPs are required to be produced every three years, with an Annual Plan being produced all other years.
