Wellington Harbour Board Registered Catalogues
Descriptive Data
Archives IdentifierAC080Date Range1916-1972DescriptionThis series contains a set of catalogues that were either supplied to the Wellington Harbour Board (WHB) by manufacturing companies or their agents. The catalogues are for a variety of equipment including rope, wire, cranes, buoys, beacons, radar and other various items. The Chief Engineer’s Department appears to have kept these for reference purposes and many of the items in the catalogues may have been purchased by the Board. The correspondence relating to any purchases of the more significant equipment can be found in the Completed Order files (series AC068). The catalogues are numbered with an alpha numeric sequence that is arranged roughly alphabetically by subject. For example those catalogues relating to cranes have a ‘C’ prefix, while those for radar have an ‘R’ prefix. To allow easier control and access to the series, each item has been top numbered within each box and the original numbering sequence has been recorded in the Other ID field of the database. For this series the title field records the name found on the cover of the catalogue, including the shortened version of the Manufacturer’s name. The year of publication has been recorded in the data range field. Where a decade is used, such as Circa 1920s, this means no date was recorded on the item itself and a rough decade date was estimated from the contents of the catalogue. The notes field of the database records the full name of the Manufacturer and the Agent where applicable.Quantity (Linear Metres)1MediumBound VolumeSystem of ArrangementArranged by original numbering sequenceCollection TypeWellington Museums Trust
