Though the registers were created between 1892 to 1914, the information content dates back to 1875. The entries in the first volumes contain virtually the same information as those in Series AF001 volumes 1-4; the reason for the duplication is not known. These volumes include information about exemptions, and from volume 2 onwards, marital status is recorded . In subsequent volumes the entries are cumulative; that is, when one register was full, entries for all those those currently employed were transferred into the next volume, and then new entries added; but not all prior information was transferred, and there are references to page numbers in prior and subsequent registers.
