Over the years, Environmental Control got shifted between various Council Units: - from 1995 until 1999 it was part of ‘Service Delivery’, - from 1999 until 2001 it became part of ‘City Services and Marketing’, - after that, from 2001 until 2002 it was part of ‘Community Services’, - and lastly from 2002 until 2003 Environmental Control was a unit on itself The following functions werecontrolled by this unit: Resource Consents Compliance Monitoring Building Consents Parking Enforcements Public Health (health, liquor, animals, trade waste) Noise Control In September 2003 the building, licencing and compliance functions moved to Building Consents and Licencing Services (BCLS), and planning and resource function moved to Urban Strategy Group.
