TypeAgencyOther NamesECBUDate Range1995-September 2003DescriptionThe Environmental Control Business Unit took over the functions of the Environment Division of Wellington City Council. Over the years, Environmental Control got shifted between various Council Units:
- from 1995 until 1999 it was part of ‘Service Delivery’,
- from 1999 until 2001 it became part of ‘City Services and Marketing’, - after that, from 2001 until 2002 it was part of ‘Community Services’,
- and lastly from 2002 until 2003 Environmental Control was a unit on itself.
The following functions were controlled by this unit:
-Resource Consents
-Compliance Monitoring
-Building Consents
-Parking Enforcements
-Public Health (health, liquor, animals, trade waste)
-Noise Control.
In September 2003 the building, licencing and compliance functions moved to Building Consents and Licencing Services (BCLS), and planning and resource function moved to Urban Strategy Group.
