The Office worked across the Council, investigating complaints and co-ordinating responses. All requests under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act also went through the Office. The first Advocate was Kevin Murphy, who was previously the Council’s Director of Quality Assurance.
The name of the Public Advocate's Office was changed to the Issues Resolution Office as from 1 July, 2004.
