TypeAgencyDate RangeFebruary 1995-1999DescriptionIn February 1995 Anglian Water International (AWI) signed a 25 year contract to design build and operate a wastewater treatment and disposal system for Wellington. The contract with AWI was the beginning of the Wellington Wastewater Project (later known as the Clearwater Project). It involved the construction of two sewage treatment plants: a large one at Moa Point, and a smaller one at Karori (Western Treatment Plant). Other key parts of the system included a 1.8 kilometre outfall pipe (contracted to Candac Perry Joint Venture), a sludge de-watering plant at the Southern Landfill (Carey's Gully) and a new pumping station at Island Bay. The Wellington City Council owned the Wellington Wastewater Project, but the project was managed by a number of contractors. The Project Manager and Quality Assurance Advisor was Carson Mills Ltd. The Technical and Operational Advisor was Beca Steven Ltd. The WCC representatives for the project were Peter Marks (c.1994-17 October 1996) and Roger Lane (18 October 1996- c.1999). The Clearwater Project office was set up to administer and oversee the contract with AWI. It included representatives from Carson Mills, Beca Steven and WCC.
