Record Identifier179Date Range1885-1931DescriptionThe SS Mararoa was built by William Denny and Brothers in 1881 at the bank of the River Leven, Dunbarton, Scotland for the Union Steamship Company (USSCo). It had an over 40-year career with the USSCo. After being laid up in reserve in Wellington since 1927, its hull was stripped on 16th February 1931 and scuttled in Palliser Bay, New Zealand.

This set of materials was physically grouped by subject matter and placed into envelopes prior to donation to the Wellington City Archives. Some of these envelopes have information written on them, which has been transcribed and included below, where applicable. This information is only indicative of the contents.
