Originally established under deed of trust dated 23 December 1993 for a number of charitable objects and in particular to preserve the St James Theatre and to promote live entertainment and performing arts events held at the St James Theatre.
In 1998 the Trust acquired the Opera House and the purposes were expanded to include the same kinds of activities as those noted above in relation to the Wellington Opera House. Internal StructuresIn 1997 St James Theatre Limited was registered as a company that owned 100% of the shares of the Trust, the company was dissolved in 2014.
