In 1922 the firm secured the contract for manufacturing the metal milk tokens for Wellington City Council's Milk department. The initial order was for 575,000 tokens with the one qurt tokens being made in copper with the Corporation arms on one side and the words "one quart" on the other.
From 1925 Precision Engineering had the sole responsibility of manufacturing number plates for New Zealand and this continued until 1939 (TBC when this stopped).
The business was acquired by Alex Harvey Industries Ltd in 1965, which was later acquired by Carter Holt Holdings Ltd in 1985. It was removed from the companies register in 1995.
In 1995 Precision Office Industries was based in Wingate manufacturing steel office furniture, shelving and storage systems. They also did powdercoating and sheet metal manufacture as a contract service. At that time their library shelving was found in most libraries throughout New Zealand, and their mobile shelving was used by The National Archives and The National Library.
Precision was acquired by The Dexion Group in 2007 and continues to operate under the name Precision Filing and Storage.
CEMAC whose primary business involved building fitouts, carried the agency for Precision and Dexion range of products.
