Record Identifier52Date Range1972-1991DescriptionHolmdale was a single screw motor vessel built in 1961 by Bodewes Scheepswervn, Martinshoek for the Holm Shipping Company Ltd, Wellington. From 1962 the ship was operated by the Union Steamship Company (USSCo.) for Holm shipping until 1981, when the USSCo bought the ship for its Chatham Island service. While enroute between Auckland and Norfolk Island the ship took a heavy list and was abandoned 180 miles north of North Cape. She sank on 27 October 1991.
