The WRHST, also known as the National Hockey Stadium Trust, was established in 1985 to oversee the National Hockey Stadium and other hockey facilities in the Wellington region.
In 2014, the WRHST and the Wellington Hockey Association agreed to a collaborative approach, with the WHA taking over the day-to-day operational management of the facilities.
WRHST in partnership with the Wellington Hockey Association manages the turf and facilities at the National Hockey Stadium at Albert Park - Wellington, the turf at Elsdon - Porirua, the turf and Pavilion at Fraser Park - Lower Hutt and the turf at Maidstone Park in Upper Hutt.
The Trust retains a strong asset stewardship role with WRHST having the primary responsibility to maintain the turfs and the facilities and is responsible for ensuring there is provision for replacing the surfaces as well as planning for new turfs and facilities.
The National Hockey Stadium (NHS) located Mt Albert Road, Newtown, is the home of Capital Hockey and Wellington Hockey Association.
